While the plants in your garden will certainly add colour and interest, the largest areas of the space are usually made up of hard surfaces and lawns. Therefore, if they look grubby and unkempt, they can spoil the look of the whole garden. However, by the same token, clean them up and restore them to former glory and they will lift the entire space.
Here is how you can freshen up these two areas of the garden for maximum impact:
Sprucing Up Your Lawn
It may feel like lawn care could easily be a full-time job, and while mowing is an ongoing task all summer, giving it what it needs to grow stronger and greener is actually really easy. Stronger grass means it’s more robust, more resistant to weeds, disease and pests, and better able to absorb water and sunlight. This creates healthier grass that is greener and lusher.
You can achieve this by adding Iron Sulphate. This comes in granule form that you dilute with water. Apply to the grass with a sprayer or watering can and then water in. It will absorb better if the ground is already wet (ie after rainfall) and there is more rain to come. Apply every 6-8 weeks for the best results.
Got artificial grass? This is certainly lower maintenance than real grass, but it still needs some attention every now and then. Think of it like a carpet. Artificial grass will become dirty over time and could be harbouring all kinds of bacteria and germs (especially if pets use it as a toilet). An artificial grass cleaner will clean it, deodorise it, and make it smell fresh (you can even choose a fragrance from 3 options). It will also look better for being clean.

The main hard surfaces of your garden are likely to be drives, paths, patios, and decking but you can also get cleaning products for roofs and kennels.
Obviously, these areas all attract the general dirt and debris that you would expect from being outdoors, but they can also develop organisms such as mould, algae, and black lichen. For these blights, you will need specialised products that contain active ingredients to break them down. Mould and algae are green in appearance and can become slippery when wet. For these, use a green mould and algae remover. Black lichen looks like spatters of black ink and for this, you will need a black spot remover. Both products are easy to apply. Just pour on using a sprayer or watering can leave to work for several hours and then rinse away. Surfaces will come up like new with all traces of mould, algae, and lichen was gone.
Outdoor kennels need a good clean-up every now and then for obvious reasons. Choosing a specific kennel cleaner means you can disinfect it from the kinds of bacteria and microbes that typically develop in this type of environment, but it’s perfectly safe for your dog (it’s DVG – the German Veterinary Medical Society – approved).
Finally, if you’re attending to everything else, why not dot every I and cross every t and clean the roof as well. A roof cleaner can be used on any roofing material so obviously, it’s suitable for the roof of your home but also the roofs of any summer houses, garages, sheds, or ground floor extensions, which are all a little easier to access.
